home services scanning services
For a nominal fee, the UHNMAC provides scanning services for researchers using Affymetrix and Agilent arrays.
The UHNMAC also offers an Affymetrix GeneChip processing service (using researcher-supplied reaction cocktail and GeneChip) that includes hybridisation, washing, staining and scanning, and provides raw data and QC report files. Click on Affymetrix array scanner (below) for more information.

The Agilent Scanner (Agilent Technologies) is available for the array scanning service on our TMDT site.
The Agilent DNA scanner features SureScan High-Resolution Technology, equipped with a 48-slide autoloader. This scanner is capable of scanning 1" x 3” glass slides with 2, 3, 5, or 10 micron resolution. This instrument can scan ultra high density commercial microarrays as well as arrays printed at low density.
With the introduction of this scanner, Agilent improved upon its Extended Dynamic Range (XDR) technology by increasing the dynamic range of a single scan from 16-bit (saturation at 65,535 counts) to 20-bit (saturation value is over 780,000 counts).
Users can drop off their slides in the afternoon and have the slides scanned overnight, space permitting. The images (and quantification data files for Agilent arrays, if requested) are available the following day through the secure UHNMAC User Data Portal.

The Affymetrix GeneChip® Scanner 3000 7G allows for the scanning of high-density arrays, including SNP arrays with up to 900,000 SNPs, tiling arrays for transcription and all-exon arrays for whole-genome analysis. We can scan any Affymetrix GeneChip and provide raw data and QC report files. We can also process your samples (researcher-supplied reaction cocktail and Affymetrix GeneChip), including hybridisation, washing, staining, and scanning, and provide raw data and QC report files.
GeneChips submitted for scanning are usually processed by the next business day. Please contact us prior to sending reaction cocktails for processing. If you are sending reaction cocktails for processing, please note that we require an additional 1.5 µL of the fragmented material for QC prior to hybridisation.
